Nathan: Happy child

Well, just so you all know he is okay, we took this video of him this afternoon as we did the pictures (we really need to get our digital camera fixed and purchase a video camera...). So, here are a couple of videos of just how fun our lives are with this little one:

And now another one, where Bart has quite the serious face while trying to figure out how to capture single images from the software he just started using this week (EvoCam--which is great, BTW, if you are looking for something to do time-lapse, motion-detection capture, or other webcam video capturing).

Nathan's Mishap

Today I had one of those parenting experiences that you know happen all the time, but they shouldn't to you. Right?
I was getting ready for church, Nathan playing at my feet. I finished with my curling iron, unplugged it, and ran out of the room to finish packing for church. For some odd reason I had forgotten the curling iron once I had unplugged it. I figured Nathan was fine, Bart was behind the closed door close by in the shower.
Suddenly, I hear him crying. I run in thinking he must have shut his finger in a cupboard door. There I see my poor sweet baby sitting on the floor, bawling, with a curling iron sitting beside him. I couldn't believe what I had done!

I found the burn on his head and immediately started cooling it. He also has a small one on some fingers, that I found later. They aren't to bad of burns, we are so grateful. I must admit sometimes I think I "hurt" worse then he does knowing that I failed to protect him.
Well, kids heal fast, (thank goodness) and as you can see from the pictures and especially from the videos, that our sweet Nathan will live. With gusto.

What goes on when I'm not there.......

When we were in Hawaii recently, Grandma Schoenwald and Aunt Steph came down to babysit the 4 oldest. I'm not sure what they were up to or what trouble they caused while we were gone! ( Or who these mysterious characters in this photo are)

Hiking the Falls

A little while ago we hiked to the one of the waterfalls in this area. There are many beautiful waterfalls to hike to. Grandma and Grandpa Schoenwald and Aunt Steph joined us.
We also had a deer join us for our picnic lunch. She stood and munched only 8 feet or so away, content as long as we didn't make any sudden moves. Very neat!
