Tues. and Wed. Bart and I each had the opportunity to do "skin to skin" with Benjamin. The closeness is really wonderful for premies development. I have to admit it was a beautiful and disturbing experience all at once. It was beautiful to be able to hold him and do something for him, but disturbing to feel how very small he is and feel completely inadequate in taking care of him.

If Ben is the "rock star" of NICU, you are the "rockin parents." You look just beautiful holding him. Holding him more often may just be the key to your confidence and gaining courage. I think you're brave and have no need for guilt, but more courage never hurt anyone, right? You know how skin to skin does miraculous things for Ben's brain, breathing, heart rate and immune system? It will also do miracles for your parenting instincts, for him specifically. I believe that. You guys are awesome. Thinking of you always, Sally
